Bioglobal Launches BioAttract-FAW

A Significant Milestone Product of BioAttract Suite to Control Insects in a Biological and Economical Way.

By Bioglobal Holdings Limited, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, January 22, 2024

Today Bioglobal is delighted to announce the launch of the next generation BioAttract kairomone products.

The turning of the year 2024 heralds Bioglobal’s new stage of kairomone products for crop protection. Twenty years ago, Bioglobal created the first kairomone product to attract and kill harmful insects.

From this humble beginning, Bioglobal has developed BioAttract, a commercially sustainable product that has passed vigorous testing and trials. BioAttract has been tested worldwide in modern farming practices and some countries with cottage farms. Now, it is time to apply this technology to broad-acre crops.

Designed for the broad acre market, BioAttract has also been utilized for vegetable cash crops and other areas where pesticide use has been restricted.

BioAttract has given Bioglobal a tool and a method to understand the practical aspects of using kairomones for pest management. This product is suited well for Bioglobal’s philosophy to integrate and support current pest management and control products. BioAttract has consistently proven attraction for Lepidoptera moths, male and female resulting in the reduction of existing and future generations. BioAttract has been shown to be a viable substitute for treating resistant pests. BioAttract’s simple design allows for manual applications with simple spray equipment that can be deployed on difficult or risky terrain.

BioAttract is now diversified in product offering and consists of three separate products: BioAttract, BioAttract-Heli, and BioAttract-FAW.

BioAttract continues to be the original flagship product that has given years of service and continues to give a broad attraction for Heliothis, Spodoptera, etc., across multiple crops, such as Soybean, Corn, Cotton, Wheat, Barley, and Sorghum.

BioAttract-Heli is now the name given to a specialized kairomone formula for use in cotton applications. This formula has been created for Heliothis moth in cotton fields. The formula provides a quicker knockdown effect with a higher attraction response. The benefits are realized in a mid-heavy generation population in resistant Heliothis moths, including Bt cotton.

BioAttract-Heli has undergone extensive trials in cotton throughout China and is currently being assessed in large-scale trials of over 2500 hectares in Brazil and other countries. Further cooperative arrangements have been established for the national distribution in China.

This formulation is not limited to Heliothis moths, as substantial attraction still occurs in Spodoptera moths.

BioAttract-FAW is a new formula to address the problem of the migrations of Fall Armyworm on the Asian continent. In 2016 the Fall Armyworm established a population in the African continent and has continued migrating throughout Central Asia and Southeast Asia. Bioglobal started a specialized formula for the Fall Armyworm in early 2019. Unfortunately, development was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and could only continue in mid-2023.

Bioglobal is now satisfied with the recent trial results which has proven attractions to male and female Fall Armyworm even in less-than-ideal conditions, including low temperatures prior to overwintering.

BioAttract-FAW will further undergo independent trials and redevelopment for commercial worldwide distribution.

Bioglobal is committed to developing kairomone products that support and integrate with existing control methods. BioAttract design allows cost-effective applications that reduce energy, materials, and labor expenses.
