Bioglobal Kairomone-Based Innovative Pest Management Solutions

Mr. Su Min - CEO of BioGlobal presenting at Summit.

On March 7, 2024, Mr. Su Min, CEO of Bioglobal, delivered a presentation on the topic of "Bioglobal Kairomone Based Innovative Pest Management Solutions" at the 5th Biopesticides, Biostimulants, and Biofertilizers Summit.

The summit was held in Shanghai, China. The summit focused on innovations driven by market demands and industry pain points in the global agricultural biological industry. It brought together overseas and domestic experts, scholars, opinion leaders, and representatives from outstanding enterprises to discuss industry trends, policy, regulatory dynamics, enterprise strategic plans, product and technology innovations, commercialization and marketing, and biological solutions contributing to soil health. More than 230 organizations and enterprises around the world participated in the summit.

In his speech, Mr. Su Min introduced Bioglobal and touched on kairomone technology in general. He presented kairomones' market potential and how Bioglobal integrates kairomones with current pest management practices. He further explained in detail about Bioglobal's flagship product, BioAttract range product, and Bioglobal's successful cases in applying kairomones.

According to the Fortune Business Insights' survey of the global kairomones market, the current global market size (2023) is USD 633.62 million, the future global market value (2030) is USD 1786.06 million, the CAGR from 2023 to 2030 is 13.99%. According to other market survey reports, such as GII Global Information (https://www.giiresearch.com/report/dmin1319242-global-kairomones-market.html), Maximize Market Research (Kairomones Market: Global Industry Analysis and Forecast (2023-2029) (maximizemarketresearch.com)), and INDUSTRY ARC (https://www.industryarc.com/Report/20031/global-kairomones-market.html), the CAGR of global kairomone market from 2023 to 2030 are 11.2%, 9.2%, and 14.5%. It is a fast-growing market.

The applicable crops of Bioglobal's existing kairomone products include rice, maize, sorghum, seed cotton, soybean, groundnuts, sugar cane, tobacco, other broadacre crops, and other specialty crops. The proven target pests of Bioglobal's current kairomone products exceed 35 species, and the potential target pests of such available products include over 40 species. These results show the tremendous market potential of Bioglobal's kairomone-based pest management solutions.

Mr. Su Min highlighted the economic benefits of BioAttract as follows:

“Using BioAttract, full coverage spray is NOT required. Applications to large crop areas are achieved faster. Strip-spraying can be done at intervals of 50 or 100 meters between strips resulting in reduced application time.

It only needs to be mixed with 1-2% of the suitable insecticides used in traditional pest management practices. BioAttract application does not require the penetration of plant stems and leaves.

The economic benefits for producers are:

Reduced labor-time for application deployment.

Fewer spraying machines required and reduced equipment maintenance costs.

Reduction energy costs for application and water consumption.

Ideal for large broad-acre producers.

Ideal for emergency use in which quick deployment is necessary.

No Traps or lures required for control.

Uses as a static or dynamic application with regular chemical treatments.

He also emphasized the additional benefits of BioAttract in his speech as follows:

Substantially less pesticide chemicals used.

Attracts male and female adult moths.

Reduces egg and larvae count.

Used to reduce pesticide-resistant pest populations.

Less phytotoxicity.

No spray drift concern.

Reduced chemical residues.

Less harm to beneficial insects or animals.

Less pollution in soils and water.

Cleaner farming practices and improved yields.

Growers’ less exposure to hazardous materials.

Relatively lenient regulatory requirements because the active ingredients of BioAttract are food additives or plant volatile compounds (PVoC) that are generally regarded as safe.

Bioglobal launched BioAttract-FAW recently, providing an alternative solution to manage the most devastating pest, fall armyworm. Bioglobal has also begun to supply SemioLure-OFM. This lure is poison-free and can supplement the existing mating disruption and chemical spraying methods for controlling oriental fruit moths (OFM). The said two products are unique in the world.

To establish and maintain its R&D competitiveness, Bioglobal will i) strengthen redevelopment validation and research of our existing BioAttract product range for the purposes of rapidly expanding the marketing opportunities in terms of country, region, crop varieties, and pest species; and ii) exert more efforts to create and apply kairomone based technology and products to chemical insecticide sensitive crops, organic farming, and on difficult insecticide-resistant pests.
