Successful Control of Chilo suppressalis By Bioglobal's Newly Developed Mating Disruption Product
The rice stem borer (RSB), Chilo suppresslis, is one of most destructive pests in rice farming. RSB occurs in East Asia, South Asia, and Europe. It has many overwintering sites and develops several generations in the rice growing period, which can easily result in serious generation overlapping. Heavily relying on chemical insecticides to control this pest has already led to its increasing resistance to insecticides. Using sex pheromones to disrupt the mating of this pest has been widely viewed as a promising alternative.
